Information about Open Data Wales

Open Data Wales is a ‘one-stop-shop’ resource for public sector open data in Wales, making it easy for you to access, and use, public sector open data.

In addition to bringing together relevant public sector data that has been published openly elsewhere, Open Data Wales has been designed to make it easy for public sector organisations to publish their local data in an open format.

All data published on the website can be used and re-used free of charge in any format or medium, under the terms of the Open Government License - see website for further details.

If you are a public sector organisation and want to add your data to Open Data Wales, please get in touch. It doesn’t matter how big or small you are!

Our website is made available free of charge. We do not guarantee that our website, or any information within, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We have the right to remove any content you upload to our website if, in our opinion, it is personal, sensitive, confidential, obscene, threatening, deceptive, an invasion of another’s privacy or offensive. Content must not infringe data protection, copyright, trademark or privacy of person or party. We will endeavour to do this in consultation with the owner of the data, where possible.

The views expressed by other users on our website do not represent our views or values. You are solely responsible for securing and backing up your content.

Data protection and privacy

Data Cymru will at all times comply with the requirements of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018. Our privacy policy sets out how we will protect your information and how this will be used within our website.

Data Cymru acts as a data processor for all data the data controller stores using the service. You will be responsible as the data controller for ensuring that you have a legal basis for obtaining and storing the information we hold on your behalf and for managing your account permissions in line with administrative access you will be granted.

Welsh Language

You are solely responsible for ensuring that any information you add to our website meets your organisation’s obligations as detailed under the Welsh Language Act (1993) and the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.
